Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, togetherness and giving back to the communities that mean so much to us. At CAFE, our annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway has become one of our most cherished traditions, and this year, it held even greater significance as we celebrate 10 years of CAFE!
Over Thanksgiving weekend, our teams came together across all six CAFE locations to distribute nearly 800 free turkeys to members of our neighbourhoods, helping families and individuals enjoy a special Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones.
A Decade of Giving Back
For ten years, CAFE has been proud to call Toronto home. What began as a small business has grown into something much bigger, built on the relationships, friendships and connections we’ve made with the people in our communities.
Throughout that journey, giving back has always been at the heart of what we do.
This Thanksgiving, the importance of that commitment was especially clear. With the rising cost of groceries and everyday essentials placing added pressure on households across the city, we know that even a simple gesture can make a meaningful difference.
At each of our six locations, community members began lining up hours before the giveaways started, patiently waiting and hoping to receive a turkey for their Thanksgiving celebrations. The turnout was incredible, and a powerful reminder of just how important initiatives like these have become.
For us, the day was about much more than handing out turkeys. It was about showing up for our neighbours, sharing a little kindness and reminding people that community still matters.
Six Locations, Hundreds of Turkeys, One Community
From the early morning preparations to the final turkey handed out, our CAFE teams worked together to make this year’s giveaway another memorable success.
There was something truly special about seeing our neighbourhoods come together. Familiar faces, longtime customers, local residents and people visiting us for the first time all gathered with a shared sense of gratitude and community spirit.
Behind every turkey was a family, a gathering or an individual looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving. And while we may never know every story, we hope that each turkey brought a little extra warmth and joy to someone’s holiday weekend.
As we reflect on the past decade, moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Our stores are more than just places of business. They’re part of the neighbourhoods around them, and we believe that being a good neighbour means being there when it matters.
Ten Years of CAFE, and a Whole Lot to Be Thankful For
This October marks CAFE’s 10th birthday, and we couldn’t imagine a more meaningful way to begin our anniversary celebrations than by giving back to the communities that have supported us throughout the years. Ten years of growth, challenges, celebrations and unforgettable memories. Ten years of meeting incredible people, building relationships and finding new ways to make a positive impact.
And through it all, one thing has remained constant: our gratitude for the communities that have made CAFE what it is today.
To everyone who came out to our Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, thank you for being part of this special tradition. To our incredible staff who helped organize and distribute hundreds of turkeys across the city, thank you for your hard work, generosity and dedication.
And to the Toronto neighbourhoods we’ve proudly served for the past decade, thank you for welcoming us, supporting us and allowing us to be part of your communities.
