CAFE is always looking for new ways to bring people together, and our newest initiative – The Boardroom Book Club — did exactly that. The inaugural meeting recently took place on International Women’s Day, with nine incredible women gathering to share conversation, ideas, and a love of reading.

The Book Club is set to meet every second Sunday at The Boardroom CityPlace. From the moment guests walked in, the vibe was intimate and cozy. Candlelight flickered across the table, creating a relaxed atmosphere that encouraged everyone to slow down and settle in. Each guest was welcomed with thoughtful little touches, including cute bookmarks and stickers to take home, while a jar of joints sat nearby for those who wanted to enjoy a little cannabis while chatting and reflecting. It was the perfect blend of comfort, curiosity, and community — something we strive to cultivate at every CAFE event.

For our very first book club selection, we chose The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, a book that explores a powerful but simple mindset shift: the idea that letting people be who they are — and releasing the need to control others’ opinions or actions — can free us to focus on what truly matters in our own lives. Robbins encourages readers to embrace the phrase “let them” as a tool for personal peace, empowerment, and emotional clarity. Instead of wasting energy worrying about how others behave or what they think, the theory invites us to redirect that energy toward our own growth and happiness.
It proved to be a perfect choice for the evening. The book’s themes of self-confidence, boundaries, and personal freedom resonated deeply with the group, especially given the significance of the day we gathered. International Women’s Day is about celebrating strength, voice, and empowerment — and The Let Them Theory sparked thoughtful conversation about exactly those ideas.

At the first meeting, everyone took a moment to introduce themselves and share why they had joined the book club. Some came looking for connection, others for inspiration, and many simply for the joy of discussing a great book with new people. The enthusiasm in the room was immediate and contagious.
Our hosts then provided a short overview of the book and the goals of the session before the group settled in to read a few pages together. What followed was a lively and heartfelt discussion as guests reflected on the ideas in the book and how they applied to their own lives. Conversations flowed naturally, with laughter, thoughtful insights, and a sense that everyone felt comfortable sharing.ear-round, but every step is a tribute to community compassion and collective action.

Events like the The Boardroom Book Club highlight what makes our community so special. Cannabis has long been associated with slowing down, opening the mind, and creating space for meaningful conversation — and that energy was felt throughout the evening. The combination of thoughtful reading, relaxed cannabis-friendly vibes, and genuine connection made for such a memorable experience!
If the success of this first meeting is any indication, the CAFE Book Club is just getting started. We’re excited to continue bringing readers together for thoughtful discussions, new friendships, and many more cozy nights of books, cannabis, and community.
Stay tuned for details about our next meeting — and if you love great books and great conversation, we’d love to see you there.
