Easter in CityPlace: Another Year of Community, Connection, and Celebration

Spring showed up right on time this past Easter Sunday, and with it came one of CityPlace’s most anticipated traditions. The annual Easter Scramble brought families, neighbours, and local partners together once again for a day rooted in community, connection, and a whole lot of fun.

The CPRA Easter Scramble takes place every year at Canoe Landing Park.

Held in the heart of CityPlace, the event delivered everything it’s come to be known for. Smiling kids, busy parents, and a shared sense of excitement that filled the day from start to finish.

A Day Built for Families

Face and egg painting at The Easter Scramble!

From the moment people began streaming into Canoe Landing Park, the energy was unmistakable. Kids lined up for face painting and egg decorating – which was held indoors at the local community centre. The kids worked hard, proudly showing off their creations while parents connected with one another and took in the atmosphere.

Busy at work!

The highlight, as always, was the Scramble itself.

Dozens of children gathered at the edge of the field, baskets in hand, waiting for the countdown. Leading the charge was local MPP Chris Glover, a familiar and welcoming presence in the community. Known for his dedication to local engagement, Chris helped organize the kids, build the excitement, and guide the moment as they were counted in.

And then, they were off! A joyful rush across the field as kids scrambled to collect eggs, laughter filling the air as baskets quickly filled up.

The goal of the hunt is to collect as many eggs as possible, and so after gathering up what they could, the kids went to the various stations that were set up to collect prizes. CPRA volunteers were present to provide attendees with bottled water.

Community Leaders Showing Up

One of the things that makes the CityPlace Easter Scramble so special is the strong presence of local leadership.

Alongside MPP Chris Glover were City Councillor Ausma Malik, and MP Chi Nguyen, taking time to connect with residents, answer questions, and be part of the day’s celebrations. Their presence reflects the kind of neighbourhood CityPlace continues to be. One where leaders are approachable, engaged, and genuinely invested in the people they represent.

Moments like these go beyond the event itself. They reinforce a sense of belonging and accessibility that defines the community.

CAFE in the Mix

We were proud to be part of it once again.

CAFE Team serving up fresh, free coffee during the Easter Scramble.

CAFE set up on-site with a simple goal. Keep parents warm and energized while the kids took over the day. Serving complimentary hot coffee and tea, our booth quickly became a go-to stop, with a steady lineup from start to finish.

More Than an Event

Year after year, the Easter Scramble continues to grow, but its heart stays the same.

It’s about families spending time together. It’s about neighbours connecting. It’s about local organizations, community groups, and public leaders coming together to create something meaningful.

Say cheese!

A busy day at the Easter Scramble!

All in all, the event was an absolute success – families had a great time, and we were so glad to be able to volunteer and be a part of this yearly Easter tradition at Canoe Landing Park. We can’t wait for next year!
