There’s something special about a summer evening in Toronto. Warm air, a glowing sunset, good company, and plenty of reasons to laugh. This past Friday, we brought all of that together for our very first outdoor edition of Up in Jokes, and it couldn’t have been a better way to spend the night.
While Up in Jokes has become a Saturday night favourite at the Boardroom Theatre on St. Clair, we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather and bring the experience outside. Our Broadview location transformed into an open-air comedy venue as guests arrived, grabbed a drink, found their seats, and settled in for an evening of stand-up under the open sky.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky lit up in brilliant shades of pink and yellow, creating the perfect backdrop for the night’s performances. It was one of those evenings that reminds you why Toronto summers are worth waiting for.
Our lineup of talented comedians kept the crowd laughing from beginning to end. Every set brought fresh energy, quick wit, and plenty of unforgettable moments, with the audience erupting into laughter throughout the night. Whether you came with friends or met new people while you were here, it was the kind of event where everyone felt part of the same experience.s buzzing from start to finish.
One of the best parts of events like these is seeing how coffee naturally brings people together. Whether someone was stopping in for their first coffee of the day, grabbing a refreshing matcha between dance sets, or simply taking a moment to chat with our team, the booth became a gathering place for connection and conversation throughout the event.
Before the show, guests had the chance to fuel up with fresh coffee, cool off with refreshing iced drinks from our summer menu, and browse a wide selection of pre-rolls and other favourites at our dispensary. It made for the perfect pre-show ritual before settling in for an evening of great entertainment.
One of the best parts of the night was being able to enjoy live comedy without missing out on the beautiful summer weather. Instead of being indoors, we spent the evening surrounded by fresh air, colourful skies, and an incredible community of people who came together to relax, laugh, and make the most of a Friday night.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, as well as to the amazing comedians who made the evening such a success. Your energy helped create an atmosphere we’ll be talking about for a long time.
If this first outdoor show was any indication, it certainly won’t be the last. We’re already looking forward to bringing Up in Jokes back outside for more evenings filled with laughter, community, and unforgettable summer vibes.
