CAFE Spring Community Cleanup!

With the snow all gone and spring finally here, this past weekend was a great one for our local community cleanups! On Saturday morning, CAFE staff and volunteers took to the streets in Toronto’s Corso Italia neighbourhood – home to our 1321 St. Clair Ave West dispensary location. Everyone met at the store to receive cleaning supplies and a cool volunteer CAFE tee shirt! We set off along St. Clair Ave, which was bustling with community residents, out for a walk or stopping in at one of the many bakeries, grocery stores and businesses. Our CAFE crew worked hard, picking up trash from the streets, flower beds and around cars. Lots of people stopped to smile and say thank you for the hard work!

The CAFE team made their way around the neighbourhood, filling up bag after bag and definitely leaving the streets cleaner than we found them. At the end, a celebration was certainly in order – so we stopped in at our neighbours at Frank’s Pizza House and picked up a few pies for our staff and volunteers!

After Corso Italia, it was time to pack up and head over to Harbord Village, for our second cleanup of the day. Harbord Village is home to our 104 Harbord St. dispensary, and we had a whole team of staff and volunteers ready to go at 1pm! Armed with cleaning supplies, we set off down the quiet residential streets, picking up litter from the street, lawns and flower beds. We then made a stop at a local park, before circling back on Spadina Ave and back to Harbord. We made sure to clean up not just the city streets, but any refuse found on the front steps of our neighbouring businesses too. We are big on community, and truly believe that we need to look out for one another and work together, so that we can all grow and thrive together.

As we were cleaning up along Harbord, our neighbours at Piano Piano stepped out to commend our team on their hard work. They offered to make us pizza, and kindly brought over some very delicious margherita and pepperoni pizzas for our team to enjoy once the work was done! We are so grateful to them, and very much appreciate their support. And of course, we definitely enjoyed the pizza!

All in all, it was a truly great day. Swipe to see some photos!
