#CNOY22 – The Coldest Night of the Year

This past Saturday, February 26, CAFE along with our friends at Fort York Food Bank bundled up and hit the streets of Toronto to raise awareness and funds aimed at helping those experiencing homelessness. Despite the event name, we were lucky to encounter much warmer temperatures than expected, with the evening forecast calling for a low of -2 degrees!

Teams participating in the event met at Fort York Food Bank’s College St location, which was the official starting point for the walk. After signing in and checking with event organizers, groups of friends, families and colleagues started off on their walks. Our CAFE team chose to walk the 2km loop, which led us through the historic residential neighbourhood of Harbord Village, out along Spadina Ave for a beautiful view of Toronto’s CN Tower at sunset, and then back west along College St to the finish line.

The Coldest Night of The Year (CNOY) Walkathon is an incredible, annual event where tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of their homes to shine a light of hope and compassion in their communities. Remarkably, the Coldest Night of the Year has raised over $43,500,000 in 149 communities across Canada since it began in 2011.

Fort York Food Bank (FYFB), is a local community organization dedicated to providing food, resources and social supports to Toronto’s most marginalized individuals and families. CAFE is a longtime supporter of FYFB, and regularly works with this organization to help raise funds, directly access food donations and raise awareness about homelessness through our blog and social media channels.
